Classes Begin for Trine University’s New BSIS Degree in Detroit

Trine University recently teased about plans to launch its Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BSIS) degree in Detroit, Michigan. Fast-forward to spring 2024, and the university’s doors are now open for students starting this new hybrid degree, marking the first undergraduate degree available at Trine University’s Detroit Education Center. There will be two intakes – in August and then in January.

A business-focused IT curriculum

The Bachelor of Science in Information Systems combines the study of business applications with training in information technology infrastructure. The interdisciplinary curriculum provides students with expertise in areas such as advanced database management, data visualisation and network security, as well as a foundation in maths, statistics and operations research. Additionally, students can further specialise through optional tracks in management/leadership, information systems, or cybersecurity. The programme is specially-designed to develop technical skills alongside multidisciplinary teamwork and communication abilities. A hands-on capstone project in the final part of the course allows students to apply their knowledge before graduating.

Pathways to career success

With Trine’s BSIS degree under their belt, graduates will be well-equipped to work in a variety of in-demand roles, including information manager, network security analyst, network administrator, and database administrator. This degree can also act as the first step in moving on to more advanced studies, such as Trine University’s Master of Science in Information Studies, Master of Business Administration, or Master of Science in Business Analytics.

A growing presence in Detroit

The new bachelor’s programme complements Trine’s existing popular master’s degree course at its Detroit Education Center, currently educating over 5,000 students. With this undergraduate addition, the university furthers its investment in providing high-quality, career-focused programmes accessible to learners in the Detroit area.
